Dog Pond Trail
Dog Pond Trail
The CL50 utilizes the western section of the Dog Pond Loop. The trail is marked in blue for the entire loop. A side trail at 1.9 miles (marked in yellow) leads left/east to Hedgehog Pond and a campsite. East Inlet is reached about 0.5 miles past the Hedgehog Pond trail intersection. The trail turns left/east here, skirting the shore of East Inlet and passing a few nice campsites. The trail then crosses a wooden bridge over East Creek and begins to climb uphill towards Curtis Pond, reaching the pond at 2.4 miles from the Hedgehog Pond trail intersection. The trail continues past Curtis and then Irish Pond and several other small ponds on the left side. At 6.0 miles on the Dog Pond Loop, the trail enters a semi-cleared area known as Proulx Camp, formerly an old logging camp. At this point the Dog Pond Loop heads left/north on a blue-marked trail to Burntbridge Pond.
Note, the Dog Pond Loop trail does not go to Dog Pond. To follow the CL50, turn right and follow red markers for another 0.5 miles to Dog Pond. About 0.9 miles beyond Dog Pond, the trail comes to a T-intersection. The CL50 makes a sharp right here and heads west on the Otter Brook Trail.
Total distance on Dog Pond Loop Trail is 7.5 miles.
